Welcome
PigPrints is an artist-run printmaking studio based in Milan, specializing in intaglio printmaking. We collaborate with emerging and established contemporary artists through studio projects and artist residencies, producing and publishing original limited-edition prints and works on paper.
In 2010, after nearly twenty years of working with etching, I began to think about sharing the process with other artists — artists who might be curious about the medium and willing to discover what could happen when their work met the printing press.
The first to join me was Franco Matticchio, an exquisite artist and draughtsman who, at the time, knew little or nothing about etching. Together we made his first two plates. Many more artists and editions followed over the years.
I called these small editions, mostly printed on 35 × 25 cm sheets, “Pig Prints.”
In 2020, when the studio moved to a new printmaking workshop in Milan and its activities grew, Pig Prints became the name of the studio itself.
Today, artists from all over the world come to PigPrints to work with us. Our doors are open to international artists-in-residence throughout the year, as well as to artists who want to develop a new edition together with us. Each year, we produce three to five new collaborative editions.
We also organise workshops on request, open to everyone — including those who have never worked with etching before.
And if you happen to be in Milan, you are welcome to visit the studio by appointment.
Thank you for your interest, and for taking the time to discover PigPrints.
